Start a New Journey of Cichlid and Catfish Farming

In the world of fish farming, every attempt is a journey to explore the mysteries of life. I recently started a new Cichlid and Catfish Farming project, which was full of challenges and surprises, and I also gained a lot of valuable experience.

Early Stage Farming and Poposoap Products

In the early stage of farming, I received the Poposoap brand solar fountain and aerator, which added a lot of help to my farming plan. The Poposoap solar fountain is very eye-catching. It is equipped with efficient and large-area solar panels, which can efficiently convert solar energy into electricity, provide strong and stable power for the fountain, and make the water flow uniform and powerful.

Its built-in 2600mAh, 14.8V - 16.8V rechargeable battery can automatically store electricity under direct sunlight, even if the sunlight is not sufficient, it can ensure the continuous and stable operation of the fountain. This fountain also has a considerate design of adjustable water flow height and flow rate, with a maximum flow rate of 320 gallons per hour and a maximum head of 7.5 feet, which can easily meet the needs of waterscape effects in different scenarios.

It also comes with two replaceable filters that can effectively block dirt, dust and leaves, which not only extends the life of the fountain, but also reduces the frequency of maintenance, making it particularly worry-free for me to use.

It can be conveniently placed in buckets, ponds, etc. Relying on solar energy and built-in batteries, it can continuously oxygenate the water, greatly meeting the demand for oxygen supply during the breeding process, and becoming a "capable worker" in my breeding equipment. With these two devices, I am more confident in creating an outdoor breeding environment. They create a more natural and comfortable living space for the fish.

Catfish Breeding Details

In terms of catfish breeding, I chose lemon-eyed catfish as the breeding object. At present, three catfish have reached the stage suitable for breeding. For this reason, I placed a specially prepared breeding cave in the 40-gallon fish tank, and planned to use zucchini as their food. According to understanding, when catfish breed, the male fish will complete the fertilization process with the female fish in the cave, and then guard the eggs and care for the young fish.

I turned the breeding cave toward the outside of the fish tank so that I could always observe their breeding dynamics and look forward to the arrival of new life.

Cichlid Breeding and Tank Conditions

At the same time, all kinds of fish in my 300-gallon fish tank are in good condition. Xiaohong can already feed freely on the water surface; Jiami is full of energy; the wound of the once injured rainbow shark has completely healed; the tiger shovel nose has a small bump but it is not a big deal; the little ghost fish is thriving and is expected to be transferred to a large tank soon. In the cichlid breeding area, I was surprised to find that many Lake Victoria cichlid mothers had eggs in their mouths.

To ensure the smooth birth of the young fish, I decided to raise the pregnant females separately. Although the sponge filter I ordered has not arrived yet, I have properly placed some of the female fish in a temporary fish tank, and placed driftwood inside to provide them with a comfortable environment.

Equipment Maintenance and Optimization

Equipment maintenance is also an important part of the entire breeding plan. The new pump I am going to install has multiple ports to meet the operating needs of all fish tanks. The 300-gallon fish tank will also add a sponge filter to improve water quality and create a better living environment for the fish. As for the pacu fish in the 120-gallon fish tank, because of their habit of chasing and biting, I am carefully considering whether to transfer them to a 300-gallon fish tank for testing. While ensuring the health of the fish, I am also constantly optimizing the breeding layout.

This cichlid and catfish breeding project is not only a challenge to breeding technology, but also a process of growing together with these lovely creatures.
