DIY Backyard Fountain with Poposoap Pond Pump!
DIY Backyard Fountain with Poposoap Pond Pump!

Hi everyone, I’m your host, Grant Rettig. In this video, we’re going to make a DIY rock fountain using a Poposoap Pond Pump . If you’ve been following my channel, you know I’ve discussed attracting birds with different water sources. Today, I’ll show you how I created this beautiful water feature, using Poposoap’s 660 GPH, 40-watt pond pump.

Step-by-Step DIY Rock Fountain Guide:

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

Here’s what you’ll need to make this fountain:

  • Poposoap 660 GPH Pond Pump
  • Poposoap 660 GPH Pond Pump
  • Storage container (I’m using a simple one I had for Christmas decorations)
  • Storage container
  • Galvanized mesh (for the top)
  • Galvanized mesh (for the top)
  • Bio balls (for filtration)
  • Bio balls (for filtration)
  • Decorative rocks (I picked some from Lowe’s)
  • Decorative rocks
  • Drill (for creating a hole in the container)
  • Wire cutters (for cutting the mesh)

Step 2: Set Up the Poposoap Pond Pump

  1. Prepare the Pond Pump: The pump comes with a container, a filter, and bio balls. Place the pump inside the container and make sure it fits well. The bio balls will help with filtration, ensuring your water stays clean.

  2. Install the Pump: Run the cord through the slot in the container, then position the pump correctly. Attach the bio balls around the pump to help filter the water and reduce clogging.

Step 3: Cut the Galvanized Mesh

Cut the Galvanized Mesh

Use wire cutters to cut a hole in the galvanized mesh, making space for the pond pump’s nozzle to go through. Be careful with the sharp edges while cutting! Once the mesh is ready, lay it over the top of your water container.

Step 4: Set Up the Fountain Nozzle

Now, position the pump nozzle through the hole in the mesh. You can adjust the height and direction of the water flow with the nozzle extensions included in the Poposoap kit.

Step 5: Add Rocks for Decoration

Add Rocks for Decoration

Cover the mesh with your decorative rocks. I opted for a mix of river rocks, but feel free to use whatever works best for your garden’s style. This is also the point where you can decide whether you want to bury the fountain in the ground or leave it above ground.

Step 6: Fill with Water

Fill your container with water and plug in your Poposoap Pond Pump. Once it’s plugged in, the water should start flowing. Watch as the water starts creating a relaxing fountain display!

Step 7: Final Touches

Final Touches

If you feel the need to adjust the rocks or the setup, you can always tweak it later. You can also add a few more rocks around the base or sides to blend the fountain into the surrounding area more naturally.

Why I Recommend the Poposoap Pond Pump:

This pump is incredibly efficient for its size, providing 660 gallons per hour of water flow, which is perfect for this DIY fountain. It’s compact, reliable, and very easy to set up. Plus, it has an awesome filtration system with bio balls that helps keep your water clean and healthy for birds, fish, and any other wildlife you want to attract.
