Using the Solar Pump Fountain: Two Options

Using the Solar Pump Fountain: Two Options

Okay you guys so there's a couple of different ways you can use the solar pump fountain. So, the first is just to create a small fountain, and this is accomplished by basically using the different nozzle accessories. So, the second option is by making a water feature, and this is probably my most favorite way to use this solar pump water fountain. I'm using a container that I already had in my garden to set up this particular water feature, and I'm excited because this is what it looks like. I think it looks phenomenal. What do you guys think?

I absolutely love the way this looks you guys. Oh my goodness it's perfect. So this option works really really well if you already have an existing small garden water decoration. So, a huge thank you to Pop Soap for sponsoring this portion of today's video.

Attempting to Restore My Grass

Attempting to Restore My Grass

All right y'all so in this video I am going to be attempting to restore my grass. Um I'm going to start by using the grass seeds. Um yeah I'm going to just kind of see how that works. I'm going to follow some of you guys' suggestions in the comments. Um I think one person said you know they can kind of tell where the grass is trying to you know stretch out because I do have a center peede grass and it kind of stretches out and I show you guys what I'm talking about but basically um I can't remember who commented and said it I'm going start posting y'all's name um on the screen whenever you uh give a comment that I um or give a suggestion or a tip that I actually use but anyway they recommended using some miracle growth to water the grass seeds with to help it kind of grow faster.

So I'm going take that tip. If you remember telling me this in the comments um you know definitely say something or whatever.

Getting Started with the Grass Restoration Project

All right y'all so the time is around 5:28 p.m. it's pretty cloudy. They're actually calling for storms, so I wanted to get out here and start this project with the whole grassy trying to grow my grass back. So um yeah we're going to get started with that but it's a nice in terms of the temperature it feels really really good outside. Um again it is cloudy they are calling for storms. They are calling for storms but it feels really nice and windy so we're going to go ahead and get this project together. Let me show you guys the space the areas with the beer spot so we can go ahead and get started all right y'all.

Assessing the Lawn Area

Assessing the Lawn Area

So all around here is where I plan to put the grass seeds. And one thing I do want to point out y'all I don't have a sprinkler system. That's something I don't have so at some point I'm definitely going to have to invest in that but I went ahead and purchased something to kind of help me to keep the grass watered. Um hopefully this will work and uh you know I purchased like a little timer so then that way I don't have to manually come out here uh to water the grass or remind myself it'll be on a schedule so I'm excited about that. So um just wanted to show you guys what the area looks like at the moment and then so this is just one side of the yard so this is the first side here and um we're going to go ahead and walk over so we can see the other side so I'm going to be sprinkling the grasses throughout but here is also um the other area that I'm going to be working on now granted I I will say that this area here is where that one of the large tree was at which is why you can see a lot of the um hold on you can see a lot of the roots sticking about the ground so I'm not sure if I'll still be able to grow grass in this area with all these roots sticking out but yeah so in the meantime we're going to go ahead and get started. I do want to show you guys the items that I'm going to be using so let's take a look at that first I wanted to show you guys the grass seat I'm using this is the Pennington Grass seene it's the Kentucky 31 tall Vue so this is what I'm going to be using yeah and and it says basically that um you can see here you'll start to see results after about 8 to 21 days I'm going to be using the Scott Turf Builder lawn soil I got this from Lowe's um this was about $10 a bag and I got two bags and the reason I only got two bags is because I plan to mix it with with some Top Soil as well just to kind of make it stretch a little bit uh further so I do have two bags of the Turf Builder lawn soil and then I just got the Evergreen uh top soil here you can kind of see that in the back and I'm going just mix that with the um the turf builder.

All right and then last but not least I went ahead and just picked up one of these little Miracle Grow garden feeder so I'm going to be using that to water the grass seeds hopefully that'll help it to catch a lot quicker but yeah so that's that's what we have so far so we're going to go ahead and get started you guys but here's a look at the hey Bale I don't have but and they're the little miniature ones uh you guys um so I have about two I got a feeling this is not going to even be enough um I'm mainly only going to focus uh these hay bales on the areas that are completely bald I'm going to be using this to kind of cover the grass seed after I've spread them because you know I heard that whenever you put the grass seed on you want to cover it with something because the birds and things like that so I have some hay bales that I purchased last year during uh fall you know for my decorations for the fall or whatever and um I'm going to be using those I I kept them specifically for that purpose so I'm going to be using those to kind of spread over top of the grass seed it's going to camouflage the grass seed as well as provide additional moisture which is perfect.

Preparing the Soil and Seeding Process

Preparing the Soil and Seeding Process

All right guys so what I'm doing at the moment is mixing the two soils so I'm mixing the top soil and the lawn soil and because the lawn soil is such a big bag I'm only going to mix half of that with one bag of the top soil and hopefully this is going to give me a lot more coverage because you guys know I do have quite a few bare spots in my front yard. So now I'm just going to start off by just watering the space and I like to do that just to kind of dampen the area a little bit um and just kind of scratch it up with the rake and you guys will see me switch over to a different tool in a minute.

All right y'all so I'm switching over to the cultivator because I feel like this is a lot more better than the rake. Um I was able to just really really loosen up the soil a lot quicker and to me this seemed a lot more efficient than using the rake so I really really like using this particular tool I purchased this from Lowe's and I think I paid about $25 for this so now what you see me doing is just basically spreading some of that soil that I mixed up so just spreading that soil mixture on top of the area that I just cultivated and how I did this you guys I spread the soil in those areas even though I probably didn't have to do that um I spread the seeds on top of that soil and then I layered it with some more soil.

So you will notice that I'm starting to spread that grass seed all around the entire space um even those areas where the grass is starting to thin out a little bit so I just went ahead and just spread grass seeds in all of those areas as well. Also you guys will notice that before I even start the whole cultivating process I like to wet the area first and I do that to try to loosen up the soil a little bit because you guys do know I have that clay soil so it's really really tough so I'll spray the water on there a few times and then I'll go in with the cultivator and then afterwards I'll spread the soil mixture then the seeds and then more soil. So guys if I had to do this over again what I would do differently is that after I cultivated the space I would not have added the soil I would have then added the seed then the soil on top of the seed but I did an extra step I cultivated then I added the soil then I added the seed then more soil on top of that so if you do decide to do this make sure you avoid that extra step if this is your first visit to my channel welcome my name is Carolina and if this is the type of content that you enjoy and find interesting I would love to have you join my family of subscribers and as always to my existing subscribers you guys know you are always welcome back.

Progress Check and Continuing the Project

Progress Check and Continuing the Project

All right y'all so let's do a quick time check the time is now 8:01 p.m. and I just want to show you how far I've gotten. So I've done one side of the yard and I think I'm going to call it well I'm going to go ahead and see that area put down the lawn soil and then I'll do the other portion tomorrow.

All right y'all so surprisingly this little area here that was just extremely bald um the soil wasn't hard at all it was so easy to cultivate and you can kind of see that here look how nice that looks so these seeds I'm going just sprinkle the seeds on top and just sprinkle a little bit of the um I think I want to do I might do a little bit of the lawn soil but I don't know I feel like I might want to just do the hay in this particular area here so I don't know uh we'll see but anyway let's go ahead and get started with seating that so we can go ahead and wrap this up for tonight.

All right another time check it is 8:28 p.m. almost 8:30 so the only thing I have to do now is I'm going to water the entire area that I seated today with the Miracle Grow so yeah so we're going to go ahead and spray that down give it a good soaking with the Miracle Grow and then we'll start on the opposite side of the house on tomorrow yay.

Seeding the Other Side of the Yard

Hey all right y'all so it's been a couple of days later since I seated the one side of the yard so today I'm going to go ahead and see the other portion of the yard um I've been watering it twice a day and hopefully fingers crossed the grass will grow so let's go ahead and get started with the other side so we can wrap this project up all right y'all so quick heads up I'm going to get started with seating the other side of the lawn and I'll show you guys in a minute what that looks like at the moment but I am going to be trying a different product I'm going to be trying something that someone suggested in the comments um and I'll try to see if I can find the comment and post it up here but she recommended using manure along with the lawn soil so we're going to be mixing some of that and seeing how that works on that side and just kind of comparing the two products and seeing which one works best so now granted I am doing this project 2 days later so the other one that I did you know it did have a head start so I am going to go ahead and try the manure and the LA so together in and I'll admit unfortunately I'm starting this project pretty late is literally after 8:00 p.m. um you can already done tell the sun has gone down but it feels pretty good outside so why not.

Final Look and Future Landscaping Plans

Final Look and Future Landscaping Plans

All right y'all so here's the final look of the entire space after everything has been seated. I've added the combination of the cow manure and the lawn soil, and then I used the last bail of hay over here in this area because this is where the biggest balding area was at so this part here has a lot of roots so whenever I do my Landscaping on this side of the fence I'm going to actually use the no dig landscape edging and just go around this area and try to just kind of cover up the majority of this area here but yeah so that's what we're working with at the moment. This is what it looks like. Um again the roots are just they're just too big here in this area yeah I'm hoping and praying that the grass will grow and I'm also hoping for some rain we're supposed to be getting some rain today and tomorrow maybe later on tonight but um just wanted to show you guys the space and what everything looks like at the moment come on Sophie come on all right so I wanted to show y'all right fast this is a sprinkler that I've had again for a few years and it was somewhere in my storage house um luckily I was able to find it but this thing here oh my gosh I don't know if you guys can really see but this thing is literally watering the entire front lawn I mean I wish there was a way I could get like show you the stream of the water and how wide it is uh but it's literally covering the entire yard so I'm let me show youall how far it's coming maybe this will help out so you can see where it's at now right look how far the drops are coming so the drops are literally coming as far as these Stepping Stones here but this is this is watering pretty much the entire lawn or front lawn I should say or one side of the front lawn cuz there is the other side but yeah I am so pleasantly pleased that I found this.

Sprinkler Systems: A Comparison

All right y'all so I want to show you the sprinkler system that I have in place on the opposite side of the lawn. So this is just a little kit that I purchased from Lowe's. I'm really thinking about taking this back and getting the other sprinkler that I have on the other side that I just showed you guys because that one sprinkler will cover this entire area so the only thing I don't like about this particular sprinkler uh kit is that this nozzle here and this one here these are the ones that's on the far end they're not spraying out as strong the pressure is not as strong and you can kind of tell that and the last thing I want is like puddles of water so it seems like the longer the the hose is the you know the worse it sprinkles out water the pressure is just not as strong wrong so the sprayers that are closest to the water hose connector they have the best pressure and the spray is a lot more intense and reaches further but the two on the end that I had showed you guys earlier um those are trickling out they're not really that strong so I'm definitely going to be taking this back and just purchasing the one that I just showed you on the opposite side of the house.
