Building a water feature in an outdoor pond or tub, but worried about no power nearby? Don’t worry, today I’m going to share with you a product that may solve your problem - the Poposoap Solar Pond Filtration and Fountain Kit, to see if it can be a good helper for your water feature.
Meet Patty
I’m Patty, and I run the Patty’s Aquatics channel. I’m really lucky to be able to experience the Poposoap Solar Pond Filters this time. Although it was November 1st when I took the photo, it was long past the use season of my outdoor summer tub, but I have goldfish in my tub, and the weather was unusually warm, so I had the opportunity to try this product in advance.
The Allure of Solar Power
The biggest highlight of this water pump is that it is solar-powered and runs entirely on solar energy, without the need for electricity. For those friends who want to build a water feature outdoors but are trapped by power supply restrictions, it is simply a blessing. This means that whether it is in the corner of the yard or a garden pond far away from the house, as long as there is sunlight, it can be easily installed and used.
A Closer Look at the Kit

I put it in the pond for a few weeks before trying it out, and I wanted to get a feel for it before sharing it with you. Now, let me show you what it really looks like. It has a sturdy shell that protects the pump and filter media inside. There are locking devices on the four corners of the shell to keep the lid firmly fixed. The PVC pipe connected to the pump is easy to remove, and there are many ventilation holes on the top of the shell to facilitate water in and out. Open the shell and you will find the filter pad inside, as well as about 20 bio balls. The bottom of the pump has a suction cup that can be firmly attached to the bottom of the shell to prevent it from moving while working. And there is plenty of space inside, so if you want to add more bio media, you can do it.
Minor Problems Encountered
However, during the use, I also found some minor problems. For example, the manual is not perfect and some places are confusing. For example, there are two filter parts. I didn’t know what they were for at first, and I didn’t understand them after reading the manual. Later, I studied them for a long time before I found that they were replacement pads installed on the front of the filter. There is also the installation of the PVC pipe. The content shown in the manual does not match the actual situation. I had to go to other YouTube channels to find tutorials to figure it out. Hopefully, Poposoap will improve the instructions in the future to make it easier for everyone to use.
Spray Nozzle Options

This solar water pump kit also comes with three different spray nozzles, each with a different spray pattern. I like the one that sprays bubbles the most, and when the breeze blows, the bubbles float with the wind, which is particularly beautiful. You can choose the right nozzle according to your preferences.
Solar Panel Performance

Now let's talk about the solar panel. The connection line between it and the water pump is very long, which gives you a lot of flexibility in installation, and you can put the panel in many different places. But be aware that the solar panel is completely dependent on full sunlight. If I blocked the panel with my hand, the water pump stopped working immediately. So on cloudy days, it may not work at full capacity, and it will stop working at night. If you want the water pump to run all day, this product may not be suitable for you. But like me, the pond does not need water flowing 24 hours a day, so it doesn't matter much to me. In addition, the kit also comes with a small stake, which you can use if you want to fix the solar panel to the ground. I found that it works best when the panel is placed in a high place like the top of a fence post, so that it can continue to work without being blocked during the day and enjoy the beautiful water view.
Final Thoughts
For me, installing this pump in a larger bathtub makes the bathtub look cooler and the gurgling sound of the water flowing is also very pleasant. And I think it can also play a big role in a small pond, not only to filter the water quality, but also to create a beautiful waterscape. After this trial, I am full of expectations for its performance in my summer bathtub next year.
Overall Assessment
Overall, the Poposoap solar pond pump and filter kit has outstanding advantages. It is solar-powered, easy to install, and can add charm to the waterscape, but it also has problems such as unclear instructions and limited lighting conditions. If you are like me, you don’t need water flow all day long, but you want to add features to your outdoor pond or bathtub, you might consider it.
